Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference

Jason Smith was hired as the coordinator of softball umpires in September of 2022. 

Smith, who also coordinates umpires for the MIAC, works with the Minnesota Elite Umpires group, which schedules roughly 3,000 summer softball games and tournaments throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota.

Smith has been an umpire in the NSIC for the last 16 years, as well as at the Division I level where he has called games in the Big Ten, Big XII, Missouri Valley, American Athletic, and Summit League conferences over the last six seasons. In addition, he has worked numerous conference tournaments, as well as seven NCAA Regionals, five NCAA Super Regionals, and the 2017 & 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship.
