Nick Kornder was hired as the NSIC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations in June of 2006. Kornder manages the conference media and college sports communicator functions including compiling statistical data, developing media guides and publications, maintaining the conference web site, and producing/co-hosting the NSIC Spotlight. He also produced the Northern Sun Showcase TV show from 2006 to 2013.
Kornder has served as the Daktronics Super Region #3 Football Regional Coordinator from 2009 to 2014 and was voted to the DII-SIDA Board of Directors in 2013 and served a two year term as the DII Conference Information Directors Association President. Kornder has served as national media coordinator at three NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite 8 (2014, 2015 & 2018) along with the 2016 NCAA DII Wrestling Championships, the 2017 & 2024 NCAA DII Volleyball Championships and the 2018 NCAA DII Men's Basketball Championship. He has also served on the Women's Tennis Regional Advisory Committe in 2024 & 2025.
A native of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, Kornder joins the NSIC staff following two years as the media relations director at Northern State University (NSU) in Aberdeen, S.D (hired March 2004). Prior to NSU, Kornder was hired as the sports information director at the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) in August 2001. Kornder is a 2001 graduate of UMC where he was a starting middle linebacker for the Golden Eagles while earning his degree in Sports Recreation Management. Kornder was also an intern for the NSIC in the summer of 2001.
Kornder, his wife Annie, son Henry and daughters Josie and Maddie reside in Lakeville, Minnesota.
