NSIC Elite 18 Award
SMITHVILLE, Mo. -
Ethan DuCharme of Upper Iowa University was named the 2018 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for men’s golf. DuCharme was presented the award during the post championship ceremony at the
NSIC Men’s Golf Championship, which was held the past two days at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville, Missouri. DuCharme is the second student-athlete from Upper Iowa to earn the NSIC Elite 18 Award, joining Monica Rohe who earned the award in 2017 in women's golf.
DuCharme is a junior majoring in biology and holds a 3.98 grade point average. The Caledonia, Minnesota, native holds an 80.33 stroke average this season over 18 rounds. His low round this season was 74 during the Upper Iowa Spring Invite on March 30. DuCharme finished tied for 46th at the NSIC Championship.
As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships.
